Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a FY2022 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program - Local Solicitation grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance in the amount of $955,716 with a city share of $0 and a grantor share of $955,716. The purpose of the grant is to provide federal criminal justice funding to local governments. The City will serve as the fiscal agent on behalf of the Cities of Milwaukee and West Allis, and Milwaukee County with funding for all units of local government to be used to pursue criminal justice activities as guided by local Memorandum of Understanding.

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.738, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice to provide federal criminal justice funding to local governments; and

Whereas, The City will serve as the fiscal agent for the FY2022 JAG Program grant funds on behalf of the Cities of Milwaukee and West Allis, and Milwaukee County with funding for all units of local government to be used to pursue criminal justice activities; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee’s grant will fund the Milwaukee Community Justice Council Director, and various MPD Facilities, equipment, vehicle, and IT purchases; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/1/2021 to 9/30/2025 would cost $955,716 of which, $0 would be provided by the city and $955,716 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it
