Title

Resolution relating to the construction of a driveway on East Hampshire Street at 3230 East Kenwood Boulevard.

Analysis

This resolution directs the Department of Public Works to allow the construction of a driveway approach in the public right-of-way of East Hampshire Street at 3230 East. Kenwood Boulevard.

Body

Whereas, The owner of the property at 3230 East Kenwood Boulevard (the former UWM Alumni House) has received approval from the Historic Preservation Commission to build a 3-stall stone garage facing East Hampshire Street; and

Whereas, The construction of a driveway approach in the public right-of-way requires a permit issued by the Department of Public Works; and

Whereas, The proposed driveway approach for the new garage is 36 feet wide; and

Whereas, The construction of a driveway approach over 30 feet wide requires Aldermanic approval before a permit can be issued; and

Whereas, The proposed driveway is in the 3^rd Aldermanic District; and

Whereas, The 3^rd Aldermanic District Office has been vacant since May, 2022; and

Whereas, If the construction of the driveway is not approved soon, the contractor will be unable to construct the driveway until spring; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of Public Works is directed to allow construction of a 36-foot driveway in the East Hampshire Street right-of-way at 3230 East Kenwood Boulevard to service a new garage facing East Hampshire Street.
