Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of a 2022-2023 Wisconsin Coverdell Stroke Program Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Fire Department to accept and fund the Wisconsin Coverdell Stroke Program Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in the amount of $21,000. This is an additional funding source for Milwaukee Fire Department’s Community Paramedic Mobile Integrated Healthcare Program. The focus of this program is to demonstrate improvement across stroke systems of care (SSoC) including increasing the community awareness of a stroke, improving knowledge and technical skill among emergency medical services and care staff in treating stroke, linking and monitoring data across the care continuum, and supporting better coordination of post-stroke care transitions.

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA/AL Program #93.810, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to improve stroke systems of care; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 6/30/2022 to 06/29/23 would cost $21,000 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is authorized and the Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2022 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Project fund, the following amount for the project titled 2022-2023 Wisconsin Coverdell Stroke Program Grant:
