Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of a 2022 Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Safety Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Enforcement grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a 2022 Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $74,250 with a city in-kind share of $16,500 and a grantor share of $57,750. The purpose of the grant is to decrease the number of pedestrian and bicycle crashes, deaths, and injuries. The MPD will conduct pedestrian and bicycle safety enforcement in high traffic areas of the city with frequent pedestrian and bicyclist activity.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Bureau of Transportation Safety to conduct a high visibility enforcement campaign targeting pedestrian and bicycle safety enforcement; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 7/18/2022 to 9/30/2022 would cost $74,250 of which, $16,500 (22%) would be provided by the city and $57,750 (78%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2022 Special Revenue - Grant and Aid Projects the following amounts for the program/project titled 2022 Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Enforcement Grant:
