This resolution authorizes the Office of the City Attorney to retain outside legal counsel with expertise in False Claims Act, 21 U.S.C. ss. 3729-3733, cases to provide legal services to the City of Milwaukee for the case titled U.S. ex rel. Dieter, et al. v. City of Milwaukee, et al., No. 22-CV-240 (E.D. Wisc.) and appropriates up to $125,000 from the Common Council Contingent Fund for this purpose.

Whereas, The Office of the City Attorney seeks outside counsel to provide legal services and representation to the City with expertise in False Claims Act, 21 U.S.C. ss. 3729-3733, cases for the case titled U.S. ex rel. Dieter, et al. v. City of Milwaukee, et al., No. 22-CV-240 (E.D. Wisc.); and

Whereas, The cost of outside counsel retained to assist in litigation is anticipated to cost approximately $125,000; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City Milwaukee, that the Office of the City Attorney is authorized to retain outside counsel to provide legal services and representation to the City with expertise in False Claims Act, 21 U.S.C. ss. 3729-3733, cases for the case titled U.S. ex rel. Dieter, et al. v. City of Milwaukee, et al., No. 22-CV-240 (E.D. Wisc.); and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Office of the City Attorney is authorized to execute an agreement substantially similar to the agreement attached to this file; and, be it

Further Resolved, That $125,000 shall be reserved and appropriated from the 2022 Common Council Contingent Fund (001-990-C001-006300) (2022) to the City Attorney’s Office Counsel and Expert Witness Special Purpose Account Number (0001-1490-0001-S157-006300); and, be it
