Title

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the City Clerk’s Office to accept donations of up to $100,000 for each of the Alert Neighbor and MKE Community Excellence programs and adds these programs to the Give MKE online contribution platform.
Body
Whereas, Give MKE is a crowdfunding-style online contribution platform that allows people to donate money to specific City-sponsored events; and

Whereas, Through Give MKE, donors may contribute to City-sponsored events such as Day at City Hall, Big Clean MKE, and Black History Month; and

Whereas, The Alert Neighbor program is a partnership between neighborhood block clubs, the Milwaukee Police Department, and local non-profits to evaluate crime and safety concerns and develop strategies to reduce these problems; and

Whereas, The MKE Community Excellence program provides resources to support community events that promote peace and violence prevention; and

Whereas, The Alert Neighbor and MKE Community Excellence programs are funded by property tax levy dollars and require legislation authorizing the receipt of donations; now, therefore be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Alert Neighbor and MKE Community Excellence programs are added to the Give MKE online contribution platform; and

Further Resolved, That the City Clerk’s Office is authorized to accept up to $100,000 annually for the Alert Neighbor program and up to $100,000 annually for the MKE Community Excellence program; and

Further Resolved, That for the Alert Neighbor program, the City Comptroller is directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenues from the Special Purpose Account-Contributions, Account Number 0001-2110-0001-D001-006...
