Resolution relating to application, acceptance, and funding of the 2022-23 Congenital Disorders & Newborn Screening Grant from the State of Wisconsin - Department of Health Services.

Analysis
Resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept, and fund the 2022-23 Congenital Disorders Screening program from the Centers for Disease Control via the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in the amount $142,026 with a City share of $0 and a grantor share of $142,026. The funding will provide for timely screening and follow-up of referred newborns to assure care, treatment, and primary care is in place for those infants.

Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services to conduct newborn screening and referrals for newborns with specified congenital disorders; and

Whereas, Carrying out this grant program from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 will cost $142,026 comprised of $142,026 grantor share and $0 City share; now, therefore, be it;

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, that the Commissioner of Health or their designee is authorized to execute the grant agreement in substantially the same form as the agreement included in this file; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent account of the 2022 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Congenital Disorders:
