Analysis
This motion directs the Department of City Development to initiate a zoning map amendment to change the zoning of the property located at 128 East Burleigh Street, in the 6th Aldermanic District, from RT4, Two-Family Residential, to LB2, Local Business, to allow a wider mix of commercial uses.
Body
Whereas, Section 295-307-2 of the Code of Ordinances provides that an amendment to the City’s zoning map may be initiated by a motion of the Common Council; and
Whereas, Section 295-307-3 of the Code provides that, upon adoption of the Common Council motion, the Department of City Development shall prepare an ordinance and corresponding map for the zoning map amendment; and
Whereas, The property located at 128 East Burleigh Street is zoned RT4, Two-Family Residential; and
Whereas, On May 25, 2021, the Common Council adopted File Number 210157, a resolution authorizing the sale of this formerly City-owned property to Valor Creative for a mix of commercial uses; and
Whereas, This property is proposed for a wider mix of commercial uses than is permitted under the current RT4 zoning; now, therefore
It is moved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of City Development is directed to draft and introduce an ordinance to change the zoning classification of the property located at 128 East Burleigh Street, in the 6th Aldermanic District, from RT4, Two-Family Residential, to LB2, Local Business.
