Resolution authorizing the Health Department to accept donations of laboratory equipment and supplies for wastewater testing from the Association of Public Health Laboratories.

 

Analysis

This file authorizes the Health Department to accept donation of laboratory equipment and supplies valued at $28,062 from the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL). This donation will support continued wastewater monitoring for the Covid-19 virus as part of the City’s ongoing monitoring and measurement of Covid-19 spread in and around Milwaukee.

 

Body

Whereas, City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances 304-24 allows acceptance of donations to the City of Milwaukee with Common Council approval; and,

 

Whereas, the Association of Public Health Laboratories has offered the donation of laboratory equipment and supplies to the Health Department’s laboratory to support wastewater surveillance of the Covid-19 virus; and

 

Whereas, wastewater surveillance has proven a productive and consistent means of monitoring the spread and evolution of the Covid-19 virus; therefore, be it so

 

Resolved, by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City accepts with appreciation and gratitude the donation of laboratory equipment from APHL detailed in Exhibit A.
