Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a 2022 Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Group grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a 2022 Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Group grant from the Wisconsin Department of Justice through the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the amount of $501,339 with a city share of $337,207 and a grantor share of $164,132. The purpose of the grant is to participate in the Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Group Task Force to reduce the volume of controlled substances in the Milwaukee area through targeted interruption of large-scale drug trafficking. This is a continuing grant that funds a portion of salary and fringe benefits for one Sergeant and two Police Officer positions.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Justice through the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office to participate in the Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Task Force to reduce the volume of controlled substances in the Milwaukee area through targeted interruption of large-scale drug trafficking; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 1/1/2022 to 12/31/2022 would cost $501,339 of which, $337,207 (67.25%) would be provided by the city and $164,132 (32.75%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
