Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to apply for a 2010-2011 Wisconsin Coastal Management Program (WCMP) grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) in the amount of $250,000 with a City share of $205,000 and a grantor share of $45,000. The purpose of this grant is to aid in funding for the repair of the bioretention facility (facility) at North 25th Street and West Canal Street by removing and replacing the engineered soil mix.
Body
Whereas, Stormwater pollution and quantity control is an important component of the City of Milwaukee’s (City) storm water management regulation and the City’s permit with the Wisconsin Department if Natural Resources; and

Whereas, The City desires to improve the performance of the bioretention facility at North 25th Street and West Canal Street by removing and replacing the existing engineered soil; and

Whereas, The new engineered soil mix will be prepared according to Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) technical standards; and

Whereas, The facility will sufficiently treat and drain stormwater within 24 hrs; and

Whereas, To assist in funding for the repair of the facility, the City wishes to apply for grant funds from the DOA under the 2010-2011 WCMP Grant Program; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant begins on July1, 2010 and the DOA would provide a maximum cost share of 18% of eligible costs, with a total grantor share not exceed $45,000; now, therefore, be it
