Title

Resolution relating to application for, and acceptance of a Personal Protective Equipment grant from the Wisconsin Division of Health by the Milwaukee Fire Department.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department to apply and accept a grant for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for 36 fire houses from the Wisconsin Division of Health.

 Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin are confronted with a pandemic due to the 2009 H1N1 Virus; and

 

Whereas, Respirators, nitrile gloves, surgical masks and patient masks are in greater demand during a pandemic; and

 

Whereas, The State of Wisconsin Division of Public Health is making available this type of equipment known as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in units containing one case of respirators, 2 cases of medium sized nitrile gloves, 2 cases of large sized nitrile gloves, one case of surgical masks and one case of patient masks per location for licensed EMS Ambulance and certified First Responder services; and

 

Whereas, The EMS Services Division of the Milwaukee Fire Department is eligible to receive 36 PPE units, one for each fire house; and

 

Whereas, Delivery of the PPE will begin in January 2010 and be completed by March 31, 2010; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Fire Department is authorized to apply and accept a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) grant from the State of Wisconsin Division of Public Health.
