Title
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a State of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Coastal Management Program Grant, for completion of a portion of Riverwalk in the Historic Third Ward, in the 4th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of City Development to apply for, accept and fund a Wisconsin Coastal Management Program Grant from the State of Wisconsin in the amount of $189,750 with a City Share of $129,750 and a Grantor Share of $60,000. The purpose of this grant is to fund completion of a portion of the construction of a Riverwalk segment in the Historic Third Ward.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin for the construction of a Riverwalk segment in the Historic Third Ward; and

Whereas, The operation of this Wisconsin Coastal Management Program Grant from July 1, 2010 to July 31, 2011 will cost $189,750 of which, $129,750 (68 percent) will be provided by the City and $60,000 (32 percent) will be provided by the grantor; and

Whereas, It appears that City involvement in this grant and aid program will result in the following major benefit to the City - two miles of continuous Riverwalk along the eastern shore of the Milwaukee River; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of City Development shall apply for and accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That upon approval of this grant, the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Transfer to these accounts the amounts required under the grant and City accounting policy, but not to exceed a 10 percent increase of the total amounts reserved for the grantor’s share and local share of $5,000, whichever is greater, as follows:
