Resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Health Department to accept and execute a Memorandum of Understanding for the 2021 - 2026 ARPA COVID Recovery Fund Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration for the Milwaukee Health Department Office of Violence Prevention to implement targeted violence prevention efforts.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Health Department Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) to accept and execute a Memorandum of Understanding for the 2021 - 2026 ARPA COVID Recovery Grant Funds from the Wisconsin Department of Administration in the amount of $8,400,000 with no City match. The purpose of the grant is to implement the Violence Prevention Response to COVID-Related Challenges project. These violence prevention efforts include crisis response coordination, suicide prevention intervention, youth violence prevention intervention, launch of the Violence Prevention Partnership, neighborhood-based implementation of the Blueprint for Peace, OVP internal capacity support, and expansion of 414LIFE’s team of violence interrupters.

Whereas, The intent of this MOU is to authorize the Milwaukee Health Department to accept grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration to implement evidence-based violence prevention and community engagement programs; and

 

Whereas, The grant award is for the period from March 2021 through December 2026 with an awarded amount of $8,400,000 provided entirely by the grantor with no city match and; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Health Department is authorized to accept the grant funds and execute the Memorandum of Understanding between the Milwaukee Health Department and the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration; and be it

 

Further resolved, that the Commissioner of Health or her designee is authorized to execute the agreement between the State of Wisconsin Department of Administration.
