Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department and City Comptroller to increase 2021 appropriations to the Salaries and Wages and Operating Expenditure Account to cover higher than anticipated expenditures due to increased revenues and expenditures related to higher than anticipated EMS transport volume.

Body

Whereas, Section 304-91 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances establishes procedural guidelines related to the expenditure of funds to be reimbursed by greater than anticipated revenues; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Fire Department incurred expenditures greater than appropriated in its 2021 Operating Budget resulting from a higher than anticipated volume in Emergency Response Services (EMS) related to ALS and BLS transports; and

Whereas, The City Comptroller has certified greater than anticipated revenue in the amount up to $2,500,000 associated with such EMS services, pursuant to s. 304-91; now, therefore, be it

Pursuant to s. 304-91, I hereby certify that the money required for this was realized on or before December 31, 2021 and to be expended only for the purpose in this resolution.

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Comptroller is authorized to increase appropriations up to the amount of $1,500,000 in the Fire Department 2021 Salary Account (0001-3280-R999-006000) and to increase appropriations up to the amount of $1,000,000 in the Fire Department 2021 Operating Account (0001-3280-R999-006300) and to increase the 2021 Estimated Revenue account (0001-3280-009400) by $2,500,000.

Further Resolved, That the Comptroller is authorized and directed to establish the necessary accounts and accounting procedures to carry out the intent of this resolution.
