This substitute resolution approves a November 1, 2020 through April 30, 2022 lease between the Milwaukee Public Library, as landlord, and the City of Milwaukee, as tenant, for the former Mill Road Library location at 6431 North 76th Street, in the 9th Aldermanic District.

Body

Whereas, While record title to the subject parcel at 6431 North 76th Street is owned of record by the City of Milwaukee (“City”), the Milwaukee Public Library (“MPL”) is beneficial owner with statutory charge, control and custody per Wis. Stat. 43.58 (1); and

 

Whereas, The MPL by its Board declared the subject parcel surplus on October 27, 2020; and

 

Whereas, The City has been using the subject parcel for COVID related testing and for Milwaukee Fire Department training purposes; and

 

Whereas, The City, by its Department of City Development, and the MPL negotiated the lease that was made part of this file for the City to lease the subject parcel from MPL for the term from November 1, 2020 through April 30, 2022, including the rent provisions therein; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the lease submitted to this file is hereby approved, and the appropriate City officers and employees are authorized to enter into the lease for the subject parcel with MPL in substantial conformity therewith, and to make the rent and utility payments as required, and to undertake such acts as are required by the City thereunder or in furtherance hereof.
