Title

Analysis

This motion initiates the creation of an Interim Study Overlay Zone in the Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District for properties located along West North Avenue between North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Interstate 43 by directing the Department of City Development to prepare the necessary ordinance and corresponding map.

Body

Whereas, Section 295-307-2 of the Code of Ordinances provides that an amendment to the City’s zoning map, including establishment of an overlay zone, may be initiated by a motion of the Common Council; and

Whereas, Section 295-307-3 of the Code provides that, upon adoption of the Common Council motion, the Department of City Development shall prepare an ordinance and corresponding map for the zoning map amendment; now, therefore

It is moved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of City Development is directed to draft and introduce an ordinance to establish a Bronzeville Cultural and Entertainment District Interim Study Overlay Zone pursuant to Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Chapter 295-1005 and to develop the Study Plan required for the creation of this Overlay Zone.
