Title

Substitute resolution authorizing the City Attorney, by and through the Ethics Board, to enter into a contract for legal services with Boardman & Clark, LLP.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City Attorney to enter into a contract for legal services with Boardman & Clark, LLP to advise and provide counsel to the City of Milwaukee, by and through the Ethics Board, in association with request for confidential advisory opinion #21-1.

 

Body

Whereas, Under s. 304-23 of the Code of Ordinances, the Common Council may authorize the City Attorney to enter into an agreement with Boardman & Clark, LLP to provide legal services to the City of Milwaukee, by and through the Ethics Board; and

 

Whereas, The Ethics Board has received a request for a confidential advisory opinion, which has been numbered Request #21-1; and

 

Whereas, The City Attorney’s Office has a conflict of interest that precludes it from providing legal representation to the Ethics Board concerning Request #21-1; and

 

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee, by and through the Ethics Board, desires to retain Boardman & Clark, LLP to provide legal services and representation to the Ethics Board in association with Request #21-1; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Attorney is authorized to execute the contract for legal services between the City of Milwaukee and Boardman & Clark, LLP attached to this file.
