Title

Substitute resolution authorizing an agreement between Ms. Tia Richardson, Klein Land Company and the City of Milwaukee for a beautification mural on the retaining walls near the railroad overpass crossing over North Fond du Lac Avenue at West Locust Street, in the 15th Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This substitute resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee entry into an agreement with artist Tia Richardson and the Klein Land Company for a mural project on the retaining wall near the railroad overpass crossing over North Fond du Lac Avenue at West Locust Street. The City will fund the $14,292 cost of the project from the Neighborhood Investment Beautification Program.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) wishes to beautify its commercial corridors; and

 

Whereas, The railroad overpass crossing over North Fond du Lac Avenue at West Locust Street, owned by WATCO, is unsightly and in need of painting; and

 

Whereas, Klein Land Company owns property at 2876 North 32nd Street with a large retaining wall next to the overpass and is willing to allow artist to beautify that retaining wall for the public benefit; and

 

Whereas, The Department of City Development has negotiated an agreement with local artist Tia Richardson and Klein Land Company to install a beautification mural, funded by the City through its Neighborhood Investment Beautification Program; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the 2876 North 32nd Street, Milwaukee Mural Agreement attached to this file is approved, and the appropriate City officers and employees are authorized to enter into that agreement, or one substantially similar, and to undertake such acts as are required by the City thereunder or in furtherance thereof; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City’s Environmental Collaboration Office is authorized to expend up to $14,292 from the Neighborhood Investment Beautification program to support this agreement.
