Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) to enter into an agreement with University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare to provide clinical experience to students of the University. It is to the mutual interest and advantage of both the entities that the students of the Social Welfare Program of the University be given the opportunity to supplement academic preparation for the practice of their profession with clinical experience provided by the Milwaukee Fire Department. The parties agree that by working together they will be contributing to the development of a highly qualified pool of Social Welfare professionals.

Body

Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department implemented the Wellness Program in 2009 to address the mental health and injury prevention challenges affecting it’s members which now includes a Behavioral Health/Critical Incident Stress Management Program driven by the Health and Safety Manager and Peer Support team; and

Whereas, the Milwaukee Fire Department will sponsor Social Welfare students from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare to fulfill their clinical experience; and

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the attached agreement between the City of Milwaukee Fire Department and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of Social Welfare to supplement academic preparation for the practice of their profession with clinical experience provided by the Milwaukee Fire Department, and subject to such changes as the City Attorney may approve in negotiation with University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Helen Bader School of...
