Title
Substitute resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a 2020-21 Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant (Police Department).

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a continuation of a Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant project from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) through the Wisconsin Department of Justice- Division of Criminal Investigation, Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force Program in the amount of $40,000.00. The purpose of the project is a coordinated effort to enhance the Wisconsin ICAC task force program and affiliate membership effectiveness in responding to online enticement of children by sexual predators, child exploitation, and child obscenity and pornography cases; prosecuting offenders and raising community awareness; and education and prevention efforts within Wisconsin.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), for an Internet Crimes Against Children Grant, and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/01/2020 to 9/30/2021 would cost $40,000.00, of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2021 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled “Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant”:
