This resolution authorizes an agreement between the Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services and the Consumer Products Safety Commission to conduct inspections to ensure compliance with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Safety Act.
Body
Whereas, On December 19, 2007, the President of the United States signed into law the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act requiring public pools and spas to be fitted with anti-entrapment devices on their recirculation systems; and
Whereas, The act required these devices to be in place on or after December 19, 2008; and
Whereas, The Department of Neighborhood Services is certified to do such inspections and routinely inspects public pools and spas; and
Whereas, The Department of Neighborhood Services has been notified, pending Common Council approval, that it will be awarded a contract from the Consumer Products Safety Commission to conduct 103 inspections pursuant to the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act; and
Whereas, The inspections shall generate $25,750 in revenue; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Neighborhood Services is authorized to enter into an agreement with the Consumer Products Safety Commission to ensure compliance with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Safety Act.
