Title:
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a COPS Technology 2009 Camera Grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept, and fund a COPS Technology 2009 Camera Grant from the United States Department of Justice, Community Oriented Policing Services in the amount of $100,000, with a grantor share of $100,000 and a city share of $0. The purpose of this grant is to purchase in squad video/audio systems.

Body:
Whereas, Pursuant to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance, Program 16.710, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Community Oriented Policing Services for a COPS Technology 2009 Camera Grant; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 9/1/09 to 9/30/12 would cost $100,000, to be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the U.S. Department of Justice is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2009 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: COPS Technology 2009 Camera Grant:
