Analysis
This resolution directs the Commissioner of City Development to collaborate with the Community Development Grants Administration, Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee, the City-County Task Force on Climate and Economic Equity, and other local stakeholders to develop a comprehensive, interagency housing plan. The Commissioner of City Development shall present this plan to the Common Council within 6 months of adoption of this resolution.

Body
Whereas, The 2021 Budget was adopted by Common Council File Number 200001 on November 24, 2020; and

Whereas, Amendment 1E to the 2021 Budget placed a footnote in the Budget stating, “The Commissioner of the Department of City Development shall collaborate with the Community Development Grants Administration, the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee, and other local stakeholders to develop a comprehensive, interagency housing plan”; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee currently pursues housing initiatives and programs within at least three separate departments; and

Whereas, A more collaborative model in addressing housing inequities would reduce overlap amongst departments, increase efficiency, and improve strategic thinking; and

Whereas, The Commissioner of City Development is positioned to coordinate across City agencies and leverage resources for a comprehensive housing plan; now, therefore, be it
