Title
Resolution relating to an extension for the development of Wisconsin Avenue School at 2708 West Wisconsin Avenue, in the 4th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes an extension for the completion date of the Wisconsin Avenue School as Ambassador Suites by Ambassador Enterprises, LLC, in the 4th Aldermanic District.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee (“Common Council”) approved Common Council File No. 170809 for the sale of the former Wisconsin Avenue School at 2708 West Wisconsin Avenue (“Property”) to Ambassador Enterprises, LLC (“Ambassador”) for development of Ambassador Suites (“Project”) at its meeting on September 26, 2017; and
Whereas, The Department of City Development (“DCD”) sold the Property to Ambassador on December 21, 2017; and
Whereas, Ambassador agreed to complete the Project and obtain a Certificate of Occupancy by December 31, 2020 in a Purchase and Sale Agreement (“PASA”) recorded with the Milwaukee County Register of Deeds as Document No. 10739493; and
Whereas, Ambassador has experienced unforeseeable delays in the Project completion and Section 13 of the PASA allows for an extension due to unforeseeable reasons; and
Whereas, Ambassador has completed the historic designation received on March 23, 2018 and rezoning completed on April 9, 2018; and
Whereas, DCD has reviewed Ambassadors progress to date, their reasons for delays and their request for an extension until July 1, 2022; and
Whereas, DCD recommends approval for an extension of Project completion until July 1, 2022; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the extension of Project completion until July 1, 2022 is approved and City representatives, including the DCD Commissioner or designee, are authorized to amend the PASA with the Ambassador, and to take such further steps as may be necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
