Analysis
This resolution directs the Health Department to collaborate with the Police Department, Fire Department and Fire and Police Commission to make trauma informed care training available for all Police and Fire employees, provide assistance in developing Standard Operating Procedures for offering referrals for trauma informed care to the public. The Health Department shall report on the status of the trauma informed care training initiative to the Common Council within 6 months.

Whereas, The 2021 Budget was adopted by Common Council File Number 200001 on November 24, 2020; and

Whereas, Amendment 25A to the 2021 Budget placed a footnote in the Budget stating, “The Health Department shall collaborate with the Police Department, Fire Department and Fire and Police Commission to make trauma informed care training available for all Police and Fire employees, provide assistance in developing Standard Operating Procedures for offering referrals for trauma informed care to the public, and report on the status of the trauma informed care training initiative to the Common Council within 6 months; and

Whereas, Reports have shown that perpetrators of violent crimes are often victims of crimes themselves; and
