Title

Substitute resolution relating to a Memorandum of Understanding between the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., and the City of Milwaukee acting by its Police Department for the provision of police services.

Analysis

This resolution approves a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., and the City of Milwaukee acting by its Police Department for the provision of police services.

Body

Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Department acknowledges that the Presidential Inauguration Task Force (PITF) is a joint operation in which agencies including the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Park Service, Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., and other agencies act as partners in the operation of the PITF; and

 

Whereas, All law enforcement action related to the PITF by the Milwaukee Police Department must be coordinated and conducted in a cooperative manner under the direction of the Executive Council and the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C.; and

 

Whereas, The Memorandum of Understanding attached to this file outlines all details related to the Police Department’s involvement with the PITF; now, therefore, be it

                     

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Memorandum of Understanding attached to this file is approved; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Chief of Police, or the Chief’s designee, and proper City officials are authorized to enter into this agreement on behalf of the City.
