Title
A substitute ordinance amending the effective date of the municipal vehicle registration fee for Common Council File Number 200722.
Analysis
In accordance with state law, this ordinance amends Common Council File Number 200722 by changing the effective date of the municipal vehicle registration fee increase from January 1, 2021 to February 2, 2021.
Body
Whereas, On November 6, 2020, the Common Council passed File Number 200722, a substitute ordinance that increases various fees for permits, licenses, certificates, inspections and approvals; and
Whereas, File Number 200722 provides an effective date of January 1, 2021, for all fee increases, including an increase in the municipal vehicle registration fee; and
Whereas, In order to comply with state law, the municipal vehicle registration fee increase must take effect on February 2, 2021 instead of January 1, 2021; now, therefore
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Part 35 of Common Council File Number 200722 is amended by replacing “This ordinance takes effect January 1, 2021,” with “This ordinance takes effect January 1, 2021, except for Part 34, which takes effect February 2, 2021.”
