Title

Resolution authorizing the Fire Department to enter into an Agreement for Mutual Assistance with various area fire departments.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Fire Department to enter into an Agreement for Mutual Assistance with various area fire departments.

Body

Whereas, Various area fire departments desire to enter into a mutual service agreement for the protection of life and property from fire and other disasters in their respective communities; and

 

Whereas, Section 66.03125, Wis. Stats., authorizes municipalities to contract with other municipalities for the receipt or furnishing of fire, protection and emergency medical services; and

 

Whereas, Section 66.03125, Wis. Stats., authorizes fire departments to engage in mutual assistance within a requesting fire department's jurisdiction; and

 

Whereas, The details of the assistance to be provided by individual fire departments will be set forth in separate Memoranda of Understanding executed by 2 or more of the parties to this Agreement for Mutual Assistance, a copy of which is attached to this file; and

 

Whereas, The Common Council believes that the Agreement for Mutual Assistance for purposes of public safety and protection should be encouraged; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Fire Department is authorized to enter into an Agreement for Mutual Assistance, a copy of which is attached to this file, with participating area fire departments for the furnishing of fire protection and emergency medical services; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are directed to execute the Agreement for Mutual Assistance on behalf of the City.
