Title

Resolution approving a Lease between F Street 501, LLC, as landlord, and the City of Milwaukee, as tenant, for 501 West Michigan Street, for election-related purposes for the August 2020 primary election and the November 2020 general election, in the 4th Aldermanic District.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to enter into a lease with the owner of 501 West Michigan Street so that the City, as a short-term tenant, may use the parcel for election-related purposes for the August 2020 primary election and the November 2020 general election.

 

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”), pursuant to Common Council File No. 191881, leased 501 West Michigan Street (the “Property”) from its owner F Street 501, LLC (“F Street”) on a short-term basis in April of 2020 for election-related purposes, allowing City personnel and volunteers to better adhere to precautionary measures while working during the COVID-19 pandemic; and

 

Whereas, The partisan primary election will take place on August 11, 2020 and the general election will take place on November 3, 2020, and COVID-19 is still a present pandemic; and

 

Whereas, F Street and the City’s Department of City Development (“DCD”) negotiated the Lease that was submitted to this file to cover two short-term periods, one in August and one in November, that surround the respective August and November elections; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Lease, as submitted to this file, is hereby approved, and the City and its representatives are authorized to enter into the Lease on terms and conditions materially in conformance therewith and to take such actions, as may be needed, to effectuate the terms of the Lease and this resolution.
