Analysis

This resolution authorizes a replacement lease for the Bridging the Gap Learning Center, Inc. according to the conditions in the Land Disposition Report.

 

Body

Whereas, The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee (the “Authority”) and Bridging the Gap Learning Center, Inc. (“Bridging the Gap”) are parties to a March 19, 2000 lease (the “2000 Lease”)for 1600-1624 West State Street that allows Bridging the Gap to operate an outdoor golf teaching facility in accordance with the 2000 Lease; and

 

Whereas, The Authority, with assistance from the City Attorney’s Office, prepared a lease (the “2020 Lease”), a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File; and

 

Whereas, The Authority as landlord, and Bridging the Gap as tenant, wish to terminate the 2000 Lease and replace same with the proposed 2020 Lease according to the attached Land Disposition Report (“LDR”); and

 

Whereas, Bridging the Gap will continue to offer the facility for outdoor golf teaching but is proposing to expand the on-site building for event space and culinary arts training; and

 

Whereas, On June 18, 2020, the Authority held a Public Hearing on the proposed lease as required by Wisconsin Statutes; and

 

Whereas, Pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes and as a condition precedent to the sale, lease or transfer of land, the Authority submits herewith and LDR describing the terms and conditions of the proposed lease; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the LDR and 2020 Lease are hereby approved and the appropriate officers of the Authority are hereby authorized to sign the 2020 Lease in the form that is in this file (or form materially similar thereto) and to otherwise effect the intent of this resolution.
