Title
Resolution dedicating a portion of certain City-owned property for public street purposes at the southwest corner of West Florida Street and South 1st Street, in the 12th Aldermanic District of the City of Milwaukee.
Analysis
This resolution will dedicate City-owned property for public street purposes at the southwest corner of West Florida Street and South 1st Street.
Body
Whereas, A Verizon cell pole was installed in the public right-of-way sidewalk area at the southwest corner of West Florida Street and South 1st Street by DPW permit no. PWEN-17-00306; and
Whereas, The public sidewalk area must now be expanded in order for the sidewalk to meet ADA requirements, and that the expanded sidewalk requires a dedication as public right-of-way of a portion of City of Milwaukee owned property at 100 West Virginia Street, which property is occupied and used as Milwaukee Fire Department Station No. 3; and
Whereas, To accommodate the expanded sidewalk, a low retaining wall must also be constructed within the proposed dedicated right-of-way, and that all costs are to be covered by Verizon; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the following described City-owned land hereby is set aside and dedicated for public right-of-way purposes:
That part of Lot 1 in Block 18 of Walkers Point, a recorded subdivision, in the Northeast 1/4 of Section 32, Township 7 North, Range 22 East, described as follows: Commencing at the northeast corner of Lot 1; thence South, along the east line of Lot 1 aforesaid, 20.00 feet to a point; thence Northwest to a point in the north line of Lot 1, said point lying 20.00 feet west of, as measured along said north line, from said northeast corner of Lot 1; thence Easterly, along said north line, to the point of commencement; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are authorized to prepare and sign documents to dedicate land for public right-of-way purposes, as illustrated on the Dedication Map, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File, and as legally described above, and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Engineer is hereby directed to have a certified copy of this resolution recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of Milwaukee County.
