Resolution directing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a document titled “State/Municipal Agreement for a State-Let Highway Project” with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming, design, and construction of West National Avenue (STH 59) from South 39th Street to South 1st Street, and to set up funds for design engineering at an estimated total cost of $2,700,000 with an estimated City share of $675,000 and a grantor share of $2,025,000.
Analysis
This resolution directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a State/Municipal Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming, design, and construction of West National Avenue (STH 59) from South 39th Street to South 1st Street. The State/Municipal Agreement provides for 75 percent Federal and State aid and 25 percent local cost sharing for preliminary engineering. The total estimated cost of this project is $24,795,000 with a grantor share of $23,326,500 and a City share of $1,468,500. This resolution also directs the City Comptroller to transfer funds for preliminary engineering at an estimated cost of $2,700,000 with an estimated City share of $675,000 and a grantor share of $2,025,000. Construction funds for this project will be included in future resolutions.

Whereas, A project agreement has been requested and received from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to be executed by the City of Milwaukee for the programming, design, and construction of West National Avenue (STH 59) from South 39th Street to South 1st Street with Federal and State aid under the State Highway Rehabilitation Program; and
