Title

Resolution relative to the acceptance of 2019 grant funding from Laboratory System Improvement Program (L-SIP) Gap Projects - Proposal for Strengthening Local Public Health Laboratory System.                     

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the MHD Health Department to accept $10.000 from APHL to move forward with next steps in its Laboratory System Improvement Program (L-SIP) by conducting a Laboratory Career Exploration Day in order to target improving the performance of Milwaukee’s Local Public Health Laboratory (LPHL) system in the area of workforce development.

 

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the APHL/LSIP, for the purpose of conducting a Laboratory Career Exploration Day in order to target improving the performance of Milwaukee’s Local Public Health Laboratory (LPHL) system in the area of workforce development.

 

Whereas, The continued operation of this grant program from 12.09.2019 to 06.30.2020 would cost $10,000; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application of this grant from the APHL/LSIP is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2019 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Project fund, the following amount for the project titled APHL/LSIP Grant:

Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement; and, be it

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:

 

1.                     Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and

 

2.                     Expend from the 2019 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment; and

 

3.                     Enter into subcontracts and leases as detailed in the grant budget;
