Analysis
This resolution requests that the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners collaborate with the Police Department and the Health Department to develop and present a plan to the Common Council, within 4 months of adoption of this resolution, for information-sharing following critical incidents.

Body
Whereas, The 2020 Budget was adopted by Common Council File Number 190001 on November 26, 2019; and

Whereas, Amendment 35 placed a footnote in the Budget stating, “The Executive Director of the Fire and Police Commission shall collaborate with the Police Department and the Health Department to present a plan to the Common Council for information-sharing following a critical incident.”; and

Whereas, The Police Department and Health Department frequently respond to critical incidents within the city; and

Whereas, There are instances in which both the Police Department and Health Department rely upon receiving information quickly and accurately; and

Whereas, Open communication channels between departments which respond to critical incidents is essential for an effective response; and

Whereas, The Fire and Police Commission is well positioned to develop a plan that will ensure streamlined communication between departments following a critical incident; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is requested to collaborate with the Police Department and the Health Department to develop and present a plan to the Common Council for information-sharing following critical incidents; and, be it
