Analysis

This resolution directs the Commissioner of Public Works to report annually to the Common Council on the state of opportunities and technologies for implementing renewable resources in City infrastructure, particularly for street lights.

Body

Whereas, The technology associated with renewable resources is rapidly evolving; and

Whereas, The use of renewable resources may reduce the City’s carbon footprint and help reduce emissions related to climate change; and

Whereas, The 2020 Adopted Budget includes a footnote indicating that the Department of Public Works should report annually to the Common Council on the state of opportunities and technologies for implementing renewable resources in City-wide infrastructure, particularly for street lights; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works shall report annually to the Common Council on the state of opportunities and technologies for implementing renewable resources in City infrastructure, particularly for street lights; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works shall submit its first report  to the Common Council within 90 days of adoption of this resolution.
