This resolution directs the Commissioner of Public Works to present a report to the Common Council on long-term plans for the maintenance and reconstruction of City alleys.
Body
Whereas, The City maintains approximately 4,000 alleys with a total length of about 400 miles; and
Whereas, Many of the City’s alleys are past their life expectancy; and
Whereas, Funding for the reconstruction of alleys has been trending downward since 2000; and
Whereas, The 2020 Adopted Budget includes a footnote indicating that the Department of Public Works should present a report to the Common Council on long-term plans for the maintenance and reconstruction of City alleys; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works shall present a report to the Common Council on long-term plans for the maintenance and reconstruction of City alleys; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works shall submit its report to the Common Council within 90 days of adoption of this resolution.
