This resolution directs the Commissioner of Public Works to establish a plan to more effectively communicate to residents and businesses plans for underground, sewer, road and other City projects that may disturb lead water service lines.

Body

Whereas, The Common Council approved the inclusion of a footnote in the 2020 Adopted City Budget, directing the Commissioner of Public Works to establish a plan to more effectively communicate to residents and businesses plans for underground, sewer, road, and other City projects that may disturb lead water service lines; and

Whereas, Underground, sewer, road and other City projects may disturb the lead in lead water service lines and create a health hazard for residents and businesses connected to these service lines: and

Whereas, Steps need to be taken to minimize the health hazards created when lead water service lines are disturbed if residents and businesses connected to them are informed in a timely manner before the disruption; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is directed to establish a plan to more effectively communicate to residents and businesses plans for underground, sewer, road and other City projects that may disturb lead water service lines; and, be it

Further Resolved, This plan shall be presented to the Common Council by April 30, 2020.
