This resolution authorizes the proper City officials to enter into a professional services agreement with Master and Commander Architects and Planners, Inc. for the conversion of a City-owned commercial property at 2621 W. Atkinson Avenue (1st Aldermanic District) into a community center (COP house).
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is the owner of a vacant commercial property at 2621 W. Atkinson Avenue; and
Whereas, Community oriented policing (COP) houses are a community policing model that places police officers and police resources in strategic areas to proactively combat criminal behavior and improve community-police relations; and
Whereas, COP houses connect police officers with the communities they serve by hosting events and programs for youth and neighbors; and
Whereas, With physical alterations, 2621 W. Atkinson Avenue is an appropriate location for a COP house; and
Whereas, Master and Commander Architects and Planners, Inc. has proposed a $1.00 fee for professional design services for the conversion of the existing mixed-use, 2-story commercial building at 2621 W. Atkinson Avenue into a COP house; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the professional services agreement with Master and Commander Architects and Planners, Inc., for the conversion of the City-owned commercial property at 2621 W. Atkinson Avenue into a community center (COP house), a copy of which is attached to this file, is approved; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are directed to execute an agreement that is in substantially the same form as the attached agreement.
