This resolution designates March 9-13, 2020, to be ‘Women’s Week’ in the City of Milwaukee. 

Body

Whereas, The Common Council is committed to increasing the number of women in public service in Milwaukee and beyond; and

 

Whereas, Since 2010, the City has held Girls' Day at City Hall each year to inspire Milwaukee’s youth by introducing middle and high school young women to the opportunities for women in public service and community leadership; and

 

Whereas, The Common Council has designated March 12, 2020, to be Girls’ Day at City Hall in the City of Milwaukee (Common Council File Number 190823); and

 

Whereas, The Common Council is further committed to increasing the number of women of all ages in business, community, public service, educational and faith leadership roles in Milwaukee; and

 

Whereas, The Common Council desires to encourage women to seek and accept such leadership roles and to act as mentors for younger women, and to celebrate the social, political, economic and cultural achievements of women in Milwaukee; therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council designates March 9-13, 2020, to be ‘Women’s Week’ in the City of Milwaukee to recognize the importance of women in the community, and to empower them to overcome barriers to reaching their full potential as leaders.
