Title

Substitute resolution directing the Health Department to provide certain documentation relating to lead abatement to the Department of Neighborhood Services for inclusion in the Land Management System.

Analysis

This resolution directs the Health Department to regularly and promptly enter all permits issued by the Health Department for lead abatement of properties in the city into the Land Management System used by the Department of Neighborhood Services so these permits can be effectively tracked.

Body

Whereas, Permits issued by the Health Department to abate lead hazards in properties in the city are not currently entered into the Land Management System used by the Department of Neighborhood Services, making tracking of the progress and status of these permits difficult; and

 

Whereas, Entry by the Health Department of all lead abatement permits issued by the Health Department into the Land Management System used by the Department of Neighborhood Services is expected to facilitate the tracking of the progress of lead abatement in properties in the city, and foster property owner accountability; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Health Department is directed to, within a reasonable time, begin to regularly and promptly enter all permits issued by the Health Department for lead abatement of properties in the city into the Land Management System used by the Department of Neighborhood Services; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, The Health Department is directed to regularly and promptly update all permits entered into Land Management System used by the Department of Neighborhood Services as to the progress of the abatement permitted and any changes in status of all lead abatement permits issued by the Health Department; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, The Health Department shall make all arrangements necessary to train department staff to properly enter all permits issued by the Health Department for lead abatement of properties in the city into Land Management System used by the Department of Neighborhood Services to ensure effective tracking of the status of these permits, and to commence entry within a reasonable time.
