Analysis

This resolution directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute revised State/Municipal Agreements with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for West Layton Avenue from South 27^th Street to South Howell Avenue, North Teutonia Avenue from West Garfield Avenue to West Groeling Avenue, and West Vliet Street from North 27^th Street to North 12^th Street with State and Federal aid under the Surface Transportation Program.

Body

Whereas, Project agreements have been executed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Milwaukee for the programming, design, and construction of West Layton Avenue from South 27^th Street to South Howell Avenue, North Teutonia Avenue from West Garfield Avenue to West Groeling Avenue, and West Vliet Street from North 27^th Street to North 12^th Street with Federal and State aid under the Surface Transportation Program, in accordance with Common Council Resolution File Numbers 151714, adopted April 15, 2016, and 140427, adopted July 22, 2014; and

Whereas, The low bids secured for the construction of West Layton Avenue and North Teutonia Avenue through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s letting process were acceptable but exceeded the grant dollars available in each project, and

Whereas, The low bid secured for the construction of West Vliet Street through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s letting process was not acceptable and far exceeded the grant dollars available in the project; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has transmitted for our signature revised project agreements for the West Layton Avenue from South 27^th Street to South Howell Avenue,  North Teutonia Avenue from West Garfield Avenue to West Groeling Avenue, and West Vliet Street from North 27^th Street to North 12^th Street roadway improvement projects, that appropriate additional grant dollars for the West Layton Avenue and North Teutonia Avenue projects and postpones construction of the West Vliet Street project until a yet-to-be-determined date in the future; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to execute the revised project agreements for West Layton Avenue from South 27^th Street to South Howell Avenue, North Teutonia Avenue from West Garfield Avenue to West Groeling Avenue, and West Vliet Street from North 27^th Street to North 12^th Street; and, be it

Further Resolved, A copy of the revised project agreement is attached to this resolution by reference as though set forth in full.
