Title:

Resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a donation of $15,000 from Operation Impact.

 

Analysis:

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a donation of $15,000 from Operation Impact to use toward the “Take it EZ” Program, the City’s reckless driving traffic enforcement campaign. These monies will used specifically for Police overtime at four of the City’s most dangerous intersections (60th & Capital, 27th & Center, Cesar Chavez & Greenfield/Muskego, and 35th & National).

 

Body:

Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation, and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and

 

Whereas, Operation Impact has offered to donate $15,000 ($5,000 from Hupy and Abraham, S. C., $5,000 from Kohn Law Firm, and $5,000 from Operation Impact) to the Milwaukee Police Department to use toward Police overtime related to the “Take it EZ” program; now therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City of Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to accept this donation of up $15,000; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, that such authority to accept donations for said purpose shall continue, unless otherwise rescinded or amended by future Common Council action.
