Analysis
This resolution authorizes the City Clerk to expend up to $20,000 from the MKE Community Excellence Fund for BIG Serve MKE.
Body
Whereas, The City has allocated $100,000 in funding in 2019 for a new MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account; and
Whereas, The purpose of the Fund is to provide resources to support community events that promote peace and violence prevention, with the intention that allocations from the Fund will be matched by contributions from local organizations; and
Whereas, BIG Serve MKE is a weeklong series of community service events intended to be a keystone of the City’s efforts to create an environment where residents can succeed and achieve their life goals; and
Whereas, The focus of BIG Serve MKE is service to the community, with activities, including the BIG Clean MKE neighborhood clean-up events, designed to foster quality-of-life improvements, neighborhood pride and community engagement; and
Whereas, BIG Serve MKE has been established as an official City event (Common Council File Number 181646); and
Whereas, The City has allocated a total of $50,000 in 2019 Budget appropriations and Community Development Block Grant reprogramming funds in support of the BIG Serve MKE initiative; and
Whereas, Based upon statements of interest made by individuals and community organizations, the City expects to receive more than $20,000 in contributions in support of BIG Serve MKE; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Clerk is authorized to expend up to $20,000 from the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account (0001 1310 S246 006300) for payment or reimbursement of expenses related to BIG Serve MKE.
