8/5/20190 HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION ADOPTED

Minutes note: Mr. Tim Askin said this is a project for emergency repairs, but there are changes that need to be heard in public. This is a long-term project as the building needs 6-figures worth of work they are fundraising for. They have done original-mortar testing and the results were surprising as they were dark gray. Kevin Armstrong - architect - the emergency repairs are currently very limited and predominantly on the third floor and are to address active water infiltration. There is also loose masonry and open joints. Staff recommends with standard masonry conditions. The Pabst Foundation wishes to go back to the original darker and lighter mortar combination as it was originally built. Mr. Armstrong said that the issue will be that the re-mortaring will be done over a 20-year period. There will be three new colors of mortar once completed. Pamela Williams-Lime - Executive Director of the Pabst Foundation
