Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Promise Zone initiative focuses on creating jobs, increasing economic activity, improving educational opportunities, leveraging private investment, and reducing violent crime in designated “Promise Zone” areas; and
Whereas, The City’s current Promise Zones are in the Greater Old North, Near Southside, North Division/Harambee, and Washington Park neighborhoods; and
Whereas, The City and its Promise Zone partners undertake a variety of activities and events to promote Milwaukee Promise Zone goals; and
Whereas, The City has received queries from individuals and organizations seeking to contribute funds in support of the Milwaukee Promise Zone initiative; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that June, July and August, 2019, are designated as Milwaukee Promise Zone months; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Clerk is authorized to accept and expend donations to support events related to the Milwaukee Promise Zone initiative in an amount not to exceed $100,000; and, be it
Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is directed to establish a special account within the budget for the expenditure of the contributions; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the Special Purpose Account for Contributions, 0001-2110-D001-006300, and the Estimated Revenue Account for Contributions, 0001-9990-00...
