Title
Resolution authorizing the issuance of a street occupancy permit to CG Schmidt for construction activities at North Jefferson Street, south of East St Paul Avenue, in the 4th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes City officials to issue an occupancy permit to CG Schmidt allowing them to occupy North Jefferson Street between East St Paul Avenue and north of East Buffalo Street.
Body
Whereas, CG Schmidt has been contracted for construction services at 323 North Jefferson Street; and
Whereas, The Common Council had authorized the Department of Public Works to issue a right-of-way occupancy permit to CG Schmidt to occupy the western sidewalk, parking lane, and bicycle lane and to close the eastern bicycle lane in order to shift the two travel lanes to the east on North Jefferson Street south of East St Paul Avenue beginning October 8, 2018 through September 13, 2019; and
Whereas, CG Schmidt is currently requesting a permit to close North Jefferson Street for one day in order to facilitate pouring the concrete mat foundation for the new WE Energies substation at 323 North Jefferson Street; and
Whereas, CG Schmidt will be responsible to contact all affected property owners and businesses informing them of the closure and the affected dates; and
Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works may approve temporary occupancy of up to one-third of the width of the right of way while temporary use beyond that point must be approved by the Common Council; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to issue an occupancy permit to CG Schmidt allowing them to occupy North Jefferson Street between East St Paul Avenue and East Buffalo Street on June 19, 2019; and be, it
Further Resolved, That the Commission of Public Works may approve an alternative date for this proposed work.
