Title

This resolution establishes the HaRUNbee Walk/Run for Healthy Birth Outcomes as an official City event, and authorizes the City Clerk’s Office  to manage the event, solicit and accept contributions to fund the event and to make expenditures to fund the event.

Body

Whereas, The United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County has managed the HaRUNbee Walk/Run for Healthy Birth Outcomes event for the last 5 years through a grant from University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health’s Lifecourse Initiative for Healthy Families; and

 

Whereas, The goal of this event is to raise awareness of the threat of infant mortality, promote a sustainable community collaboration that contributes to the elimination of racial disparities in healthy birth outcomes and reduce infant mortality; and

 

Whereas, Rates of infant mortality are consistently and significantly higher among minority populations in Milwaukee than non-minorities; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the HaRUNbee Walk/Run for Healthy Birth Outcomes (HaRUNbee Walk/Run) is established as an official City event held annually; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Clerk’s Office is directed to manage the HaRUNbee Walk/Run event and solicit donations to support the event; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Clerk’s Office is authorized to accept and expend donations to support the HaRUNbee Walk/Run event in an amount not to exceed $1 million annually; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is directed to establish a special account within the budget for the expenditure of the contributions; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the General Fund Contribution Appropriation Control account, number 0001-2110-006300-D001, and the Estimated Revenue account for contributions, number 0001-2100-009850, to the Clerk’s Office Contribution Account 0001-1310-006300-0001-DXXX, titled “Contributions-HaRUNbee Walk/Run”, and Estimated Revenue account 0001-1310-009850 for the purposes set forth in this resolution in an amount not to exceed $1 million; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That City departments are directed to assist as necessary to make the annual HaRUNbee Walk/Run event a success.
