This resolution authorizes the City Attorney to intervene on behalf of the City in Public Service Commission of Wisconsin Docket No. 5-UR-109, relating to Wisconsin Electric Power Company’s and Wisconsin Gas LLC’s application to adjust electric, steam and natural gas rates.
Body
Whereas, Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WEPCO) and Wisconsin Gas LLC have applied to the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) for authority to adjust electric, steam and natural gas rates (Docket No. 5-UR-109); and

Whereas, WEPCO/Wisconsin Gas's application has now advanced to a stage where any interested party wishing to preserve its rights is required to intervene in the proceeding; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is a major utility rate-paying customer of We Energies, as are the residents and businesses of Milwaukee collectively, and the City and its residents and businesses are likely to be significantly impacted by any electric, steam or natural gas rate adjustments authorized by the PSC; and

Whereas, The City’s Refresh Milwaukee sustainability plan, adopted in Common Council File No. 131035, recommends that the City intervene in contested rate cases to ensure Milwaukee’s interests are represented before the PSC, and also to increase community input on utility rate cases for Milwaukee residents and businesses by providing formal input to the PSC during rate cases; now, therefore, be it
