Title

Resolution relating to an agreement between Ms. Stacey Williams-Ng, the Brady Area Foundation for Arts and Education, Inc., and Business Improvement District 11 for installation and maintenance of a mural on the S. Holton St. Bridge abutment in the Third Aldermanic District.

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes City entry into an agreement with artist Stacey Williams-Ng, the Brady Area Foundation for Arts & Education, Inc. and BID 11 for installation and maintenance of a mural on the south Holton Street Bridge abutment.

 

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee controls public rights-of-way including the Holton Street Bridge and its south bridge abutment wall that faces Water Street, and

 

Whereas,  The Brady Area Foundation for Arts & Education, Inc. (BAFAE) entered into an April 15, 2019, contract with artist Stacey Williams-Ng under which the BAFAE will pay the artist for installation of an “Enchanted Forest” mural at that south bridge abutment wall; and

 

Whereas, Business Improvement District 11 is willing to maintain the mural at its expense after installation; and

 

Whereas, The BID, the BAFAE, the artist and the City have negotiated the Holton Street Bridge Mural Agreement attached to this file; and

 

Whereas,  Ms. Williams-Ng only has time in May of 2019 to work on installation of the mural such that if City entry into the Mural Agreement is not timely approved, the mural may not happen or installation of it may be delayed for months or longer; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Holton Street Bridge Mural Agreement attached to this file is approved, and the appropriate City officers and employees are authorized to enter into that agreement, or one substantially similar, and to undertake such acts as are required by the City thereunder or in furtherance thereof.
